Will the scan tell me exactly what is wrong?
Fault codes point to the system with a problem. The mechanic then tests the parts involved so you only replace what is faulty.
Can I keep driving with the check engine light on?
If the light flashes, or the car overheats or loses power, stop and request help. A steady light still needs checking soon.
How long does it take?
A scan and basic checks usually take under an hour. Some faults need longer tests, and the mechanic will tell you.
